THE FIFTH ANNUAL "RACING WITH JAMES TURNER" CASCAR CELEBRITY GOLF TOURNAMENT
That
special time of the year for teams, drivers and sponsors of the CASCAR
National Super Series is drawing close, as the "Racing with James Turner
CASCAR Celebrity Golf Tournament" is just around the corner.
"Five years ago, a major hole was torn
in the heart of the CASCAR family”, explained driver Mark Dilley. “The son
of Al Turner, a major competitor on the CASCAR circuit, was rushed to Sick
Kids Hospital to undergo emergency Spinal Cord Surgery. When something like
this hits one of our families off the track, you are left with a numb
feeling inside. We watch all our kids grow up together at the track even if
it is just a few months of the year. It was our mandate back then to help
James Turner and his family and it is THE RICK HANSEN MAN IN MOTION
FOUNDATION that has helped James so much that we still support them to this
day", added Dilley, who is coordinator of the tournament.
With over 1,100 new injuries each year,
it is the research at the Rick Hansen Institute that gives James and over
40,000 Canadians living with a spinal cord injury the hope that one day
there will be a Cure. We are indeed RACING WITH JAMES TURNER to ensure this
happens!
"Charities have become a big part of
many of the teams programs and what the drivers stand for,” Dilley went on
to say. “If we can use our professionalism and our popularity to raise
awareness for these special charities, then they become apart of our family
off the track also. For the Fifth Annual Tournament we will be supporting
THE LEUKEMIA RESEARCH FUND OF CANADA as we have for the last two years and
we welcome a third charity for 2004, The CANADIAN DIABETES ASSOCIATION,"
stated Mark. |
