Disappointing road
course start for Whitlock at Mosport Oshawa,
ON – Jun 18 2005: "The car was much better than the results showed for
us" said a disappointed Dave Whitlock after a frustrating weekend at the
Berms R Us presents the Clarington 200 at the 10-turn Mosport
International Raceway.
The bad news started while Whitlock’s arrival was
delayed in traffic. Teammate Mark Dilley was able to take the brand new
#39 Avenue / NMT Dodge Charger out for its shakedown laps and the team
discovered some front suspension issues. When Dave arrived and set out
on practice, they discovered an engine problem that caused them to
replace it over night, relegating a move to the back for the Sunday
starting grid.
"Overall, I’m very happy with this new McColl
chassis" said Whitlock. "Coming from 33rd on this road course is decent
and now we have a base line to use going into the Molson Indy street
course in July." Unfortunately, Whitlock finished 9th and slipped two
spots in points to 5th.
On TV: Event #2, the WHELEN 200 from St-Eustache
Quebec - SATURDAY June 25th on SPORTSNET at 3 pm EST.
Next CASCAR Super Series race: July 1-3 at Barrie Speedway. The newly
reconfigured track will host several racing events during the Canada Day
Weekend, leading up to the Dodge Charger 300 presented by the Dodge
Dealers of Ontario, on Sunday, July 3.
