Whitlock Debut in NASCAR
Canadian Tire Series Not As Planned
Wyoming, ON: Dave Whitlock's debut in the #39
Dickies/Hamilton Tiger Cats/NMT Dodge Charger did
not go according to plan as the car experienced
motor problems midway through the 200 lap race
event.
"We really thought we were going to have a good
car tonight," stated a disappointed Whitlock after
the event. "We were just biding our time and trying
to stay out of trouble. I had just been on pit road
for tires and fuel and we were set to go the
distance when something in the motor broke."
The event saw eighteen caution periods as
everyone was vying for the honour of winning the
inaugural NASCAR Canadian Tire Series event. Several
top contenders for the Championship found themselves
behind the wall with problems including pole sitter
D. J. Kennington, Dave Whitlock, J. R. Fitzpatrick,
Kerry Micks, Ron Beauchamp Jr. and Scott Steckly.
Don Thompson Jr. in the #4 Home Hardware
Chevrolet eventually came home the winner, with
Whitlock team mate Mark Dilley driving the #9 Dodge
sponsored Avenger crossing the line second and the
#1 Canadian Tire machine of Peter Gibbons rounding
out the top three.
Dave Whitlock and the Whitlock Motorsports team
members would like to thank Dickies, the Hamilton
Tiger Cats and NMT who all brought guests to the
race track to cheer on the #39 team for this
historic event.
