WHITLOCK BATTLES BACK TO 8TH IN DICKIES 200

Wyoming, ON: Dave Whitlock driver of the #39 Dickies/Hamilton Tiger Cats/NMT Dodge Charger battled back to finish 8th in Sunday's running of the Dickies 200 presented by Canadian Shield.

This two day event saw the teams on track on Saturday for two practice sessions and a half hour qualifying session. The Dickies/Dodge Charger of Whitlock was in the top five after first practice and finished up the day with a solid 10th place start for Sunday's 51 lap, 200 km event on the famed 10 turn, 4 km road course of Mosport International Raceway.

Twenty nine cars took the green flag waved by Bill McFarlane, Director, Marketing & Supply Chain for Williamson-Dickie Canada Co. Whitlock settled into ninth as pole sitter Andrew Ranger jumped the green and was assessed a pit pass through penalty which saw him relegated to mid pack. Crew Chief Warren Jones decided on an early pit stop strategy and brought the #39 to pit road on lap 20. The pit crew made quick work of providing Whitlock with tires and fuel and sent him back to competition. When pit stops completed cycling through the Dickies Dodge Charger was in fourth. With a caution soon following, which allowed the cars behind to bunch up on the restart and a late race miscue in the hairpin by Whitlock they fell to eleventh. Whitlock put the pedal down over the final five laps and fought his way back to 8th at the checkered flag.

"We were solid all weekend," stated Whitlock. "After experiencing motor issues over the last couple of weeks I am pleased that all three of our cars had good finishes. My crew gave me another great pit stop that got us up near the front early in the race and we were able to bring home an eighth. We would like to thank Dickies and all their staff and families who attended today to cheer us on."

Teammates Dilley and Bourque both had strong runs with #9 Mark Dilley finishing sixth and #29 Pierre Bourque finishing 13th.

Finish 1. #27 Andrew Ranger, 2. #84 J.R. Fitzpatrick, 3. #60 Ron Beauchamp Jr. 4. #1 Peter Gibbons 5. #17 D. J. Kennington.

The #39 Dickies/Hamilton Tiger Cats/NMT Dodge Charger will be part of the Hamilton Tiger Cats street gala event on Sunday June 24th in downtown Hamilton.

The next race event on the NASCAR Canadian Tires Series tour will be #3 at Barrie Speedway on Sunday July 1st, Canada Day.
