DILLEY SECOND
IN TORBRAM 300 AT BARRIE
BARRIE, ON, (SUNDAY SEPT. 13, 2009): Mark Dilley driver of the
No. 9 Dodge Avenger started the 300 lap NASCAR Canadian Tire Series
race at Barrie on Saturday night in second and he would finish in
the same position.

The night was never boring for Dilley as he took the green flag
and battled with the No. 95 of Anthony Simone for several laps side
by side. Dilley would eventually take his No. 9 Dodge to the front
where he stayed until Kerry Micks caught up to him. Micks used the
bumper to get by Dilley and then Dilley did the same back resulting
in a Micks spin. NASCAR decided a drive through penalty was fitting
punishment for both of them. Dilley got back on track just in front
of the leaders without losing a lap, however a pit gun failure
during the pit stop would put them down a lap.

The team kept digging and finally Dilley received the “Lucky Dog”
or free pass award putting him back on the lead lap. With just a
handful of laps to go the caution flag flew and with then leader
Steckly being deemed an involved car, Dilley moved up to second. The
ensuing restart had him lined up on the outside of leader Don
Thomson Jr. Dilley was able to get by Thomson for the lead but a
little bump and run had Thomson back out front where he would stay.
The No. 9 Dodge driver did everything he could to get by Thomson
but second place would be the result for them this night. “We really
are happy about the second place,” said Dilley on the podium . “We
have just had so many strange things go wrong this year so we are
happy to get up on the podium tonight. I tried to get by Donnie but
short of dumping him we just couldn’t get it done.”
Third place went to 2008 NASCAR Canadian Tire Series Champion
Scott Steckly who almost had his third straight win at this track
but a late race incident on track had him sent back to the tail end
of the lead lap cars. Fourth and fifth went to Brad Graham and Jason
Hathaway.
The Torbram 300 presented by The Source will be broadcast on
Saturday Sept. 19th at 12 noon EST on TSN.
Next up for the Dilley team is a return to Riverside Speedway in
Antigonish Nova Scotia where the No. 9 Dodge driver won in NASCAR’s
inaugural visit to this Eastern Canada facility in 2007.
Mark Dilley would also like to acknowledge and thank his other
sponsors including: Leland Industries, Mobil 1, Exide, Avenue Auto
Parts and CRS Trucking.
