| DILLEY RUNS
OUT OF FUEL IN LATE STAGES OF A & W 300
Vernon, British Columbia (Tuesday July 21, 2009): Mark Dilley
driving the No. 9 Dodge Avenger in the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series,
A & W 300 ran out of racing fuel with thirteen laps remaining and
finished eleventh.

Dilley’s Dodge Avenger was quick off the trailer and he would
ultimately qualify it fifth quickest for the 300 lap event later in
the day.
At the drop of the green Dilley moved up a position and then
started to fade back. The first caution flag didn’t wave until lap
127 and by then Dilley had fallen back in the field down two laps.
He came to pit road and took on much needed tires and fuel while
Crew Chief Rino Montonari went to work on the adjustments needed to
get Dilley back up front.

The No.9 Dodge driver then put on a clinic showing how to get
your laps back. Under green flag conditions, Dilley managed to pass
all cars on the track twice except leader Andrew Ranger whom he
passed once and he then settled into the second position.
Things were looking good for the No. 9 team to get a podium
finish but ultimately with thirteen laps remaining the car just quit
on Dilley as he passed the entrance to pit road. He was able to
coast around and get into the pits but it took several laps for the
car to re-fire and he finished the night in eleventh position. “The
car was rocket tonight,” said a very disappointed Mark Dilley. “She
was good and we made up two laps on the track, same as last year but
I guess I had to work it too hard to get there so the fuel mileage
was not very good. We thought tonight was the night we were going to
get the monkey off our backs but we’ll try again next week in
Edmonton.”
Finish: 1. Andrew Ranger 2. Scott Steckly 3. Ron Beauchamp Jr. 4.
D. J. Kennington 5. Kerry Micks 11. Mark Dilley
The A & W 300 from Sun Valley Speedway will be broadcast on TSN
