PROMISING START FOR WHITLOCK IN
BARRIE
BARRIE ON, (Monday Sept. 14, 2009): Dave Whitlock,
driver of the No. 39 Dickies Dodge Avenger, put himself
solidly in the hunt during qualifying with a time good
enough for 8th on the starting grid of the Torbram 300
Presented by The Source on Saturday night at Barrie
Speedway.

Whitlock was able to make steady progress forward
before he took the lead on lap 172. “I was very pleased
with our performance, prior to the radiator problem, and
it looked like we were going to have a strong finish,”
Whitlock said after the race.
Whitlock pitted for right side tires on lap 179. He
would line up 10th on the restart. Shortly thereafter,
Whitlock was forced to the pits with a radiator problem
after contact on the track. The Dickies team was able to
quickly make repairs and get Whitlock back out.

Even with the lengthy stop, Whitlock came home 13th.
“Over the years we have had some great runs and some
disappointing runs at Barrie. Unfortunately tonight
turned out to be a disappointing one! That’s just the
way this tight little track is....you either have a good
night or a bad night. We were involved in numerous minor
incidents, and in one of them, we punctured the
radiator. Fortunately, due to the excellent work of my
crew, we changed the radiator very quickly and managed
to salvage a 13th place finish.”
Finish: 1. No. 4 Don Thomson Jr. 2. No. 9 Mark Dilley
3. No. 22 Scott Steckly 13. No. 39 Dave Whitlock.
The Torbram 300 will be broadcast on TSN on Saturday
Sept. 12 at 12 noon EST. Check local listings for
further details.
Next up for the No. 39 Whitlock Motorsports team is
the Komatsu 300 from Antigonish Nova Scotia on Saturday
Sept. 19th. This is the next to last race in the
illustrious career of Dave Whitlock. This is one of his
favourite tracks so the driver and team are looking
forward to a strong finish.
