WHITLOCK LEADS LAPS AND FINISHES
EIGHTH AT MOSPORT
BOWMANVILLE, ON, Saturday August 8, 2009: Dave
Whitlock driver of the No. 39 Dickies/NMT/Prostate
Cancer Canada/POINTTS Dodge Avenger had a strong outing
on Saturday night at Mosport in the Vortex Brake Pads
200. The No. 39 Whitlock Motorsports driver battled an
ill handling race car early, lost a lap, gained it back,
led laps and went on to finish eighth.

The Dickies Dodge Avenger was thirteenth quickest in
time trials and started the eighth event in the thirteen
race NASCAR Canadian Tire Series from inside the seventh
row. When the caution flag flew at lap 80, Whitlock
brought the No. 39 car to the attention of his crew for
adjustments and two right side tires. This was a
different strategy for them as they like to wait until
late in the event to give Whitlock fresh rubber.

The car was handling badly and it was decided to give
him the new tires he needed to get to the front and he
did just that. When the caution flag flew again on lap
141 Whitlock had worked his way up to fifth.
As the
other drivers pitted for tires and fuel, the No. 39 Dickies Avenger driver moved to the front position. The
fact that he now had 80 lap older tires put Whitlock at
a disadvantage but he was able to hold on for a solid
eighth place finish.
“The car was much better after we
made the adjustments and got fresh right side tires,”
stated Whitlock.
“The Dickies crew worked extremely hard today, we
made changes in practice, before qualifying and again
during the race. I am very proud of my crew, they are
relentless in trying to get the car right, so we can
work our way to the front.”
Finish 1. Andrew Ranger 2. Scott Steckly 3. D. J.
Kennington 4. Ron Beauchamp Jr. 5. Don Thomson Jr. 8.
