WHITLOCK SIXTH IN NASCAR INAUGURAL
VISIT TO SASKATOON
Saskatoon, SK (Wednesday July 29, 2009): Dave
Whitlock in the No. 39 Dickies Dodge Avenger finished
sixth in the Velocity Prairie Thunder 250 on Saturday
night in NASCAR`s inaugural visit to Saskatoon.

Whitlock had high praise for the .333 mile banked
oval as it has many racing grooves and lots of two wide
racing.
After qualifying on Saturday afternoon the No. 39
Dodge Avenger driver was shown to be thirteenth
quickest.
When the green flag dropped Whitlock`s Dickies, NMT,
Prostate Cancer Canada, POINTTS Dodge Avenger quickly
started moving forward and by the 50 lap mark he was
inside the top ten. Pit stops would follow soon after
the hundred lap mark and when all stops had cycled
through only six cars were being scored on the lead lap
with Whitlock shown in thirteenth. He made quick work of
the lapped cars ahead of him and when the caution waved
a few laps later he was given the free pass or Lucky Dog
award and he moved back onto the lead lap.

The final segment of the race was run under green and
with the fifth place car a straightaway ahead of him,
Whitlock was unable to make up any further ground and
crossed the finish line in sixth place. ``I was pleased
with our sixth place finish tonight,” stated Whitlock
after the race. “We tried a new setup today and the crew
worked extremely hard all day to get the No. 39 Dickies Dodge
dialed in. I feel we are headed in the right direction.
We can fine tune on the setup and aim to get back on the
podium at Mosport.”
Scott Steckly won his second race of the year with
Don Thomson Jr. Finishing second. Third was D. J.
Kennington and rounding out the top five was Jason
Hathaway and Anthony Simone.
The No. 39 Whitlock Motorsports, Dickies Racing Team
