FUEL PUMP STARVES CHALLENGER MOTOR FREIGHT/LOGEL’S AUTO PARTS TEAM OF GREAT FINISH

September 18, 2006. Brad Graham and the Challenger Motor Freight/Logel’s Auto Parts team were set gain another strong finish at Kawartha Speedway in the final race of the 2006 CASCAR Super Series season. They would come within five laps of doing so.

During the early practice sessions the Challenger Motor Freight/Logel’s Auto Parts team would struggle for speed. “It took us some time to get a handle on things” said Graham. “We weren’t overly fast on short runs but that’s been the case with this car all season. It was interesting during qualifying that a lot of guys slowed down, and we stayed pretty consistent”. Brad would line up the Challenger Motor Freight/Logel’s Auto Parts Dodge in tenth spot to begin the Dodge Charger 250.

Kawartha Speedway is a fast and challenging track for the teams. Drivers have a choice of several racing lines and need to use more than one groove to have success. As the race began the Challenger Motor Freight/Logel’s Auto Parts Dodge was a handful for the driver. “It was really strange, we were loose for a few laps, then the car would get tight, I was pretty thankful when the caution came and we had a chance to change tires”.

Graham would make a second stop near the 100 lap mark for a handling adjustment and then the car was noticeably improved. “After the tire change and rear end changes we were in good shape. I had a car that could give us the finish we were looking for”.

As the laps wound down Graham had the Challenger Motor Freight/Logel’s Auto Parts Charger among the top contenders. “We didn’t have the best car, but a good car” said Graham. Preparing for a restart with five laps remaining the Challenger Motor Freight/Logel’s Auto Parts Dodge unexpectedly slowed coming through corner two. The first thought was perhaps that they were out of fuel.

The Challenger Motor Freight/Logel’s Auto Parts team scrambled to help Brad and diagnose the problem, get the car fired and back into the race. Unfortunately it was determined that the fuel pump not sending gas to the motor that was the problem and with only a few laps remaining there was no time for repairs. “We were in a position for a good finish, it just didn’t happen” said a frustrated driver afterwards. “It’s nice to see the #9 Dodge win here at the Dodge 250 but this is a disappointing way to end the season”.

MECHANICAL MISFORTUNE FOR CHALLENGER MOTOR FREIGHT/LOGEL’S AUTO PARTS TEAM AT ST. EUSTACHE

September 10, 2006. The Challenger Motor Freight/Logel’s Auto Parts team and driver Brad Graham were seeking a strong run for round ten of the CASCAR Super Series schedule at the Autodrome St. Eustache and a boost in the point standings. However a mechanical failure would cost them.

During the afternoon practice session Graham had the Challenger Motor Freight/Logel’s Auto Parts Dodge among the quick cars on the challenging flat oval track north of Montreal. “I thought we were in pretty good shape” said Graham. “We weren’t the fastest out there during practice but we made some adjustments to the car for qualifying and to compensate for the changes to the track conditions that we expected during the race”.

The Challenger Motor Freight/Logel’s Auto Parts car would line up 9th for the 200 lap feature event. “It wasn’t the ideal starting spot” said the driver. “You like to be as close to the front as possible to avoid trouble”

Graham would begin the event looking to settle into a rhythm and then look to make gains in position. “The race was going pretty much as we expected in the early going” said Brad afterwards. “We were doing our thing, running in the top ten and looking to move up, but then we had some contact from behind that bumped us onto the infield”. Graham would recover and move the Challenger Motor Freight/Logel’s Auto Parts machine back onto the track, but their difficulties were not over.

After getting back on track and with plenty of racing left, Brad Graham refocused and set about regaining the positions he’d lost after the off track excursion. “The car seemed to be okay and I’d gained a few spots back when all of sudden something broke on the front straightaway and we were sent sailing through turn one and into the runoff”.

Upon inspection by the Challenger Motor Freight/Logel’s Auto Parts team it was a broken trailing arm mount. “I’m sure the run through the infield earlier did some damage” said Graham. Despite the feverish efforts by the team, repairs could not be made in time to rejoin the competition. “It was an awesome effort by the guys working like that, but the damage was pretty severe. We’ll have some work to do before next weekend”.

Brad Graham and the Challenger Motor Freight/Logel’s Auto Parts team will head to Kawartha Speedway this coming weekend for the final event of the 2006 CASCAR Super Series racing season. CONTESTING FOR A PODIUM FINISH, GRAHAM HAS CONTACT ON THE FINAL LAP AT CAYUGA

September 4, 2006. Brad Graham and the Challenger Motor Freight/Logel’s Auto Parts team looked to be on their way to another podium finish during round nine of the CASCAR Super Series. However the intense competition at Cayuga Speedway would result in contact and cost the team several positions.

Cayuga Speedway is the longest oval track on the CASCAR Super Series calendar and Brad Graham and the Challenger Motor Freight/Logel’s Auto Parts team worked hard through practice to find the best handling characteristics for the 200 lap main event. “It was tough in the afternoon” said Graham. “But the guys made some changes for the race that worked out really well”.

Starting in eleventh spot Graham knew it would be a long night trying to make his way toward the front. “It’s really tough to pass here” said Graham. “But I had a good car and we picked up a few spots in the first half of the race. The only reason we started to slow up a bit was the tires were going away a little”.

The Challenger Motor Freight/Logel’s Auto Parts team made their scheduled pit stop near the mid point of the race and it was routine service. “After the stop our car was right back on track” said the driver. And Graham went back to work making his way toward the front.

After passing several cars to move into fourth position Graham was right on the back of the third place competitor as the white flag waved signaling the final lap. In a bold move to claim a podium spot Graham drove hard into corner one and up the inside of #4 ahead of him. The two raced side by side into corner three and continued to make contact with each other, and both cars would spin.

Brad Graham would regain control of the Challenger Motor Freight/Logel’s Auto Parts Charger and hustle across the finish line for a seventh place finish. “I drove as hard as I dared into corner one and we touched” said Graham afterwards “but on the last lap you’re going to do everything you can to gain a spot. I’m not going to try and deliberately take anybody out or mess up their race but I’ll go hard for a spot. We were both racing as hard as we could right to the end and we both wound up further back than we probably should have at the finish, but sometimes that’s the way it works out when you’re battling that close”.

Brad Graham and the Challenger Motor Freight/Logel’s Auto Parts team will be back in action this coming weekend at Autodrome St. Eustache for round ten. DISAPPOINTMENT FOR CHALLENGER MOTOR FREIGHT/LOGEL’S AUTO PARTS TEAM IN MONTREAL

August 28, 2006. The final road course race on the CASCAR Super Series schedule marked a first for Brad Graham and the Challenger Motor Freight/Logel’s Auto Parts team and the rest of the competitors as they made their inaugural appearance to Circuit Gilles Villeneuve as part of the Grand Prix of Montreal weekend.

At previous road and street circuits this season the results have been mixed for the Challenger Motor Freight/Logel’s Auto Parts team, Brad Graham and company were keen to show well in Montreal. “We’ve learned some things as the season went on and we thought we could take a step forward in Montreal” said Graham.

“This is a very difficult race track” said the Challenger Motor Freight/Logel’s Auto Parts driver, it doesn’t have the elevation changes, but there’s really high speeds and heaving braking, it’s tough on equipment”.

Graham would improve his lap times through the practice and qualifying sessions and start the CASCAR 100 in 13th spot. “It was as high as we hoped, but if we stayed out of trouble the Challenger Motor Freight/Logel’s Auto Parts team was sure we could have a good finish”.

Brad Graham moved the Challenger Motor Freight/Logel’s Auto Parts Dodge smoothly through the race, preserving the car, looking to be in good shape for the finish. However a transmission failure would end their day early. “We were in line for maybe a top ten” said Graham, it’s unfortunate to have this kind of failure, we did take some steps but I guess we still have a bit of work to do on these road course events for next year”.

HARD CHARGER BRAD GRAHAM FIGHTS BACK AT MOSPORT IN CHALLENGER MOTOR FREIGHT/LOGEL’S AUTO PARTS DODGE

August 13, 2006. Brad Graham and the Challenger Motor Freight/Logel’s Auto Parts team came to the Mosport Speedway oval with high expectations and were confident of a solid finish. The events of the day would challenge the team, and they would respond with an admirable effort.

Through the afternoon practice session Graham posted respectable times in the Challenger Motor Freight/Logel’s Auto Parts Dodge but also sensed that something was wrong. The team went to work and discovered a leak and also noticed metal shavings in the motor. “We found the problem and the team went to work immediately” said Graham. “We had to change motors and get ready for the race. With the tight schedule there was no chance to be ready for time trials so we made sure that we got the job done right since we’d be starting from the back”.

The Challenger Motor Freight/Logel’s Auto Parts team worked diligently to complete the motor swap in time for Brad to take the green flag. Little did they know that more adversity lay ahead. “In the early going I was careful with the Challenger Motor Freight/Logel’s Auto Parts Dodge and we started to make up a few spots. As we got near halfway and our pit stop we were just outside the top ten and things looked pretty good”.

However with so many cars still on the lead lap, it made for a very crowded pit lane and Brad became a victim of the tight quarters. “I squeezed into our pit box for our stop, but when the car ahead of us had to back up to exit his stall, he bumped us, knocked the Challenger Motor Freight/Logel’s Auto Parts Dodge off the jack and really messed things up” said the frustrated driver. “We regrouped and finished our service and then just battled the rest of the night”.

Graham did battle and finished the Mosport 200 just outside the top ten. For his efforts Graham and the Challenger Motor Freight/Logel’s Auto Parts team claimed the Hard Charger award for gaining the most positions. “We did manage to salvage something from a rough day, but I thought we would be better” said the still dejected driver afterwards.

GRAHAM GAINS EIGHT SPOTS AT TROIS RIVIERES IN CHALLENGER MOTOR FREIGHT/LOGEL’S AUTO PARTS DODGE

August 7, 2006. As the CASCAR Super Series made its return to the temporary street course at Trois Rivieres it was all brand new for Brad Graham and the Challenger Motor Freight/Logel’s Auto Parts team. And while never racing there before had them start off slow, they were up to speed by the end of the weekend.

The Challenger Motor Freight/Logel’s Auto Parts team started the weekend looking to get a feel for the tricky street circuit. “It was pretty tough through the first couple of sessions” said Graham. “We put what we thought was the right set up on the car but it wasn’t working and with only a couple of quick practices we didn’t have the time to try all the things we wanted”.

Still searching for right handling characteristics Graham did his best with the Challenger Motor Freight/Logel’s Auto Parts Dodge but could only manage the 19th quickest time in qualifying. “If you’re off just a bit it really hurts in this series, the teams are all so competitive. So we made some further adjustments after qualifying and they worked out really well”.

Graham realized that if he was going to have a good outing in the Challenger Motor Freight/Logel’s Auto Parts Dodge he would need two things to happen. Stay out of trouble, and have some caution laps to keep the field close. They realized half their wish when a first corner crash gobbled up several competitors. “Staying out of that mess was important, it gave us a chance to see if our adjustments worked, and they did”.

Once the field resumed racing Brad was able to drive the Challenger Motor Freight/Logel’s Auto Parts Dodge up through the field. He would finish just outside the top ten, but gain a total of eight positions. “It really shows how the hard work and determination the team has shown all year paid off” said Graham. “They kept working, made a lot of progress with the car that resulted in us gaining some spots during the race”.

Brad Graham and the Challenger Motor Freight/Logel’s Auto Parts team will be back in Ontario this coming weekend as CASCAR teams head to the half mile oval at Mosport Speedway.

VICTORY FOR GRAHAM IN CHALLENGER MOTOR FREIGHT/LOGEL’S AUTO PARTS DODGE AT SUN VALLEY!

July 17, 2006. Last season at Sun Valley Speedway near Vernon, B.C. Brad Graham appeared poised to capture his first CASCAR Super Series victory. However, it slipped away with only a handful of laps remaining. As the Challenger Motor Freight/Logel’s Auto parts team returned for this years 300 lap race Graham was determined not let it happen again.

Through much of the weekend the Challenger Motor Freight/Logel’s Auto Parts team struggled for speed. “We just couldn’t seem to find the right set up” said Graham. “Then during the 100 lap qualifying races it started to come together and we scored a third place finish which gave us a good sixth place starting position.

Brad knew that the key to success for the Challenger Motor Freight/Logel’s Auto Parts team was to stay out of the kind of trouble 34 tightly bunched cars can get into on a short race track. “Things were really good for us in the first half of the race” said Graham. “We moved up to the front without much difficulty and our car got even better as the race went on”.

Just past the midway point of the 300 lap main event Graham brought the Challenger Motor Freight/Logel’s Auto Parts Charger to pit lane for their scheduled service. “The team did their job and gave me a good stop, but we were blocked into our pit stall and couldn’t get out so that set us back a little. But we didn’t panic, we knew as the stops cycled through we’d be fine our car was great all day”.

The race strategy continued to play out for Graham and the Challenger Motor Freight/Logel’s Auto Parts team. Brad smoothly climbed back into the top five, on to third and then jumped to second just prior to the final yellow caution flag period of the day.

When the race re started with 15 laps remaining the question was would Brad have the time to move the Challenger Motor Freight/Logel’s Auto Parts Charger to the front. With only four laps remaining Brad made the clean pass for the lead and held on to capture the victory. “I’m not sure what to say” and emotional Brad Graham stated afterwards. “I’ve got to thank Challenger Motor Freight for supporting me for five seasons, John Logel who worked as my spotter and came on board as a sponsor and really gave our team a real boost, and of course my parents and family for being their since I started racing when I was nine years old.

Brad Graham and the Challenger Motor Freight/Logel’s Auto Parts team will be looking for victory again this coming weekend as CASCAR teams head to the runways at Edmonton’s City Centre Airport as part of the Grand Prix of Edmonton weekend.

You can watch the race from Sun Valley Speedway on Rogers Sportsnet on Saturday July 29th check listings for times in your area and see Brad take the checkered flag in the Challenger Motor Freight Logel’s Auto Parts Dodge. GRAHAM & CHALLENGER MOTOR FREIGHT/LOGEL’S AUTO PARTS DODGE A SOLID SIXTH AT BARRIE

July 3, 2006. Brad Graham and the Challenger Motor Freight/Logel’s Auto Parts Charger Dodge team knew they had car that could challenge at Barrie Speedway after their first visit to the track earlier this season. The team expected an event better result for the Mopar Canada Day 300 presented by the Dodge Dealers of Ontario this past weekend.

The Challenger Motor Freight/Logel’s Auto Parts Charger Dodge team scored a top ten finish in the season opening race in May and was among the top competitors right from the first practice session. “We knew that we didn’t have the fastest car on a single lap but our concern was to make sure that the handling was how we wanted it for the race” said Graham. During Time Trials Graham posted the 9th quickest time in the Challenger Motor Freight/Logel’s Auto Parts Charger Dodge.

With traffic always an issue on the cramped 1/3 mile oval Graham wanted to settle in with a comfortable pace and get to the around half way to assess their situation. The first half of the race did go rather smoothly for the team, in the second half of the 300 lap main event it was a different story. “Things started to go away from us after our pit stop” said Graham. “We were placed behind the 39 car for the re start and it took a long time to get around him even though we were faster, and we also ended up with some body damage”.

Despite the setbacks Graham and the Challenger Motor Freight/Logel’s Auto Parts Charger Dodge were hovering around the top five were poised for another good finish. Several late caution periods would affect the teams finish. “The car was working best on long runs, after a few laps it really hooked up and we were very good, unfortunately we didn’t have a lot of that in the last part of the race and that hurt” said Graham.

During a late race restart the Challenger Motor Freight/Logel’s Auto Parts Charger Dodge was hit from behind and sent spinning. “That’s tough to take” said Brad afterwards. “I know it’s not intentional but we had to settle for sixth place when we should have been in the top five for sure”. The sixth place finish does move Brad up to 8th spot in the overall CASCAR Super Series standings.

The Challenger Motor Freight/Logel’s Auto Parts Charger Dodge team will get back into action as the teams head west to Sunset Speedway. Graham and the Challenger Motor Freight/Logel’s Auto Parts Charger Dodge team scored a second place finish at the Vernon, BC oval last year.

GRAHAM HAS HIS HANDS FULL WITH CHALLENGER MOTOR FREIGHT/LOGEL’S AUTO PARTS DODGE AT MOSPORT

June 19, 2006. Brad Graham and the Challenger Motor Freight/Logel’s Auto Parts Charger Dodge team had thoroughly prepared their car for the challenging road course at Mosport International Raceway for round two of the CASCAR Super Series. Unfortunately their hard work was undone by an ill handling car during the race.

Though not known as road racer Brad Graham has always performed well at the road courses and temporary street circuits that make up a significant part of the CASCAR Super Series. Top Ten finishes are a typical result. “We just try to stay within ourselves and knowing that there is usually a few cars that get knocked out, we can come up with a good finish” said Graham.

The first order of business for the Challenger Motor Freight/Logel’s Auto Parts Charger Dodge team was qualifying and Brad managed an 11th place starting spot. “It wasn’t bad, but it just wasn’t where we wanted to be” said Graham. “We just didn’t find the sweet spot”.

Track temperatures were at 120 degrees Fahrenheit at the start of the race, and Graham settled into a smooth rhythm with the Challenger Motor Freight/Logel’s Auto Parts Charger Dodge making consistent lap times. Following the team’s first pit stop of the day Brad knew there was a problem. “The car was just evil anytime I worked through a left hand corner. Under braking you just weren’t sure what was going to happen”. The team huddled to discuss options. Knowing the problem would require more than a quick fix it meant Brad would be forced to battle an ill handling car until there was a full course caution.

After running in the top five Graham did his best to hang onto the Challenger Motor Freight/Logel’s Auto Parts Charger Dodge. During a full course yellow the team made repairs to a loose upper control arm that was causing the difficulty and Brad was able to fight back and gain some positions. “It was a frustrating afternoon because we were better than a 14th place finish”.

The Challenger Motor Freight/Logel’s Auto Parts Charger Dodge team will get back into action on the Canada Day weekend when the CASCAR Super Series makes their second trip to Barrie Speedway.

CHALLENGER MOTOR FREIGHT/LOGEL’S AUTO PARTS DODGE TEAM OPEN 2006 WITH TOP TEN FINISH

May 23, 2006. Brad Graham and the Challenger Motor Freight/Logel’s Auto Parts Charger Dodge team hit the track at Barrie Speedway over the weekend for round number one of the 2006 CASCAR Super Series. While the results placed the team with a solid top ten finish, everyone felt a little disappointed with the final placing.

The Challenger Motor Freight/Logel’s Auto Parts Charger Dodge was quick right from the first practice session and driver Brad Graham was able to not only run quick time trial laps, but also completed his 50 lap heat race with third place podium finish. Not only did this secure the sixth starting spot for the 250 lap main event, but the heat races award full race championship points toward the final standings. “Our car was fast all weekend” stated Graham after the event. “It’s easy to forget about the points in these heat races because you get so focused on starting position, I’m glad we were able to get a good finish”.

The 250 feature race was delayed until Monday afternoon due to inclement weather however the cold temperatures throughout the weekend didn’t slow down the car or the pit crew. “The first 100 or laps or so everyone was doing pretty good staying out of trouble, but then things got kind of heated later in the race” said the driver. “We were doing our thing, running up front in the top five or six all afternoon long and then we decided to make our pit stop for tires and fuel. I thought the guys did an awesome job to get our service and get us back on track before the pace car came around, but CASCAR saw it differently.”

Brad was ruled not to have made it out of the pits before the pace car and was scored one lap down. “That deflated us, no question about it” said a dejected Graham. “There seemed to be some confusion on a couple of issues during the race and that’s frustrating. We had the car to run up front all day but that judgment sure worked against us”.

Still among the fastest runners all afternoon Brad Graham and the Challenger Motor Freight/Logel’s Auto Parts Charger Dodge did score an 8th place finish in the main event. “While initially we were a bit disappointed we’ll move on and get ready for St. Eustache in a couple of weeks. It’s a track we ran well at last year and we’ll be prepared to do that again” said the driver.

CHALLENGER MOTOR FREIGHT/LOGEL’S AUTO PARTS DODGE TEAM READY FOR MORE SUCCESS IN 2006!

May 17, 2006. Brad Graham and the Challenger Motor Freight/Logel’s Auto Parts Charger Dodge team have been working tirelessly to prepare their car for the start of the 2006 CASCAR Super Series racing season. The first event of the year takes place this weekend at Barrie Speedway and the team is ready to take the next step to success.

Last year was a break through season for the Challenger Motor Freight/Logel’s Auto Parts Charger Dodge team with podium finishes and claiming fifth in the overall CASCAR Super Series Championship. “With the switch to the Dodge Charger last season it took us a couple of races to really hit our stride” said driver Brad Graham. “But once we found the sweet spot our team was as good as any the rest of the way. Our equipment is solid, our pit crew terrific and we gave ourselves the chance to be successful at every event, and that’s how we want to start this season”.

Race number one of the 2006 season is at Barrie Speedway, a track that Graham and the Challenger Motor Freight/Logel’s Auto Parts Charger Dodge team had success at last year with a top ten finish. “If we can stay out of trouble early on, then we’ll have a chance to go at the end. 250 laps is a long race, especially at this track because it’s so tight, we have to focus on being in the right position for the final 50 laps or so”.

Racing action for the 2006 CASCAR Super Series opens up on Saturday afternoon at Barrie Speedway with time trials and fifty lap heat races. Sunday is the 250 lap main event. More information is available at www.barriespeedway.com. Of course you can follow Brad Graham and the Challenger Motor Freight/Logel’s Auto Parts Charger Dodge team seeing all the races on Rogers Sportsnet.

BRAD GRAHAM & CHALLENGER MOTOR FREIGHT/LOGEL’S AUTO PARTS DODGE TEAM ON TRACK FOR MOPAR DAY!

May 1, 2006.  Brad Graham and the Challenger Motor Freight/Logel’s Auto Parts Charger Dodge team hit the track and turned a few laps of practice at the annual Mopar Day held recently at Barrie Speedway.

“This is our second Mopar Day and we’re happy to be here with the rest of the teams, it’s a good opportunity for us to hear about what Mopar and Dodge do for CASCAR and thank them, plus we get a little track time, and every time you get out on the track you learn something” stated Brad Graham.

The 2005 season was a significant step forward for Brad Graham.  Acquiring additional sponsorship support from Logel’s Auto Parts of course provided the team with more resources but also the encouragement and assistance of John Logel.  “I can’t tell you how good it is to have John with us at the track” stated Graham.  “He provides another pair of eyes and ears to look at a situation, he’s very knowledgeable and his support of our team and CASCAR has been tremendous”.

With top ten finishes the norm and finishing in the top five in the overall points championship last season Brad Graham and the Challenger Motor Freight/Logel’s Auto Parts Charger Dodge team are considered among the contenders to win at every event.

“We improved last year no doubt about it” said Graham.  “But in this series the competition is so tough we have to improve again this year.  We’ll be out testing again before the opening race and we’ll be ready to go at the opening event on May 21stenthused the driver.
