TOP 5 FOR STECKLY IN SEASON FINALE
Late charge to the front cut short by rain

KAWARTHA, ONTARIO – The No. 22 Racing/Canadian Tire/Tow Truck in a Box Dodge Avenger of Scott Steckly was soundly in the top five of the Z-Line Designs 250 presented by the Dodge Dealers of Ontario and Coca-Cola at Kawartha Speedway on Sunday afternoon when rain cut the event short on lap 204 of 250 laps.

“We were coming,” Steckly said of his fourth place finish. “My No. 22 Racing/Canadian Tire/Tow Truck in a Box Dodge Avenger – I think – was going to be the car to beat at the end. We were on the right pit strategy, and we were good on the long runs. The rain ended all that, but we’ll take a top five finish.”

Qualifying sixth on the grid for the Saturday night finale showed that Steckly had the pace to run at the front. With the postponement of the event until Sunday, Steckly was still confident in his ride. “I think we’ll still be at the front. It is the same for all of us, and I expect that our car will be good on the green track.”

Steckly was right as he started to move up the order then had a titanic battle with 2009 Champion Andrew Ranger for fourth place. “I tried and tried,” Steckly said “But he was really, really tough on the outside. We must have gone 10 laps door-to-door.” Finally, Steckly was able to dispose of Ranger and move forward onto the tail of the top 2 by halfway point.

Pit stops would have a determining factor in the race as some stopped on early cautions, but they would have to stop again. Steckly would be caught behind these drivers, and when the rain came, that sealed his fate.

“It was just that one quick shower, and that killed us,” Steckly said. “We had moved up well, and the No. 22 Racing/Canadian Tire/Tow Truck in a Box Dodge Avenger was well positioned for the run to the finish. Sadly, it was called because of rain just after lap 204 and that was that.”

It has been an exciting year for Steckly and he is looking forward to 2010 already. “I can’t wait for next year, but first, I have to thank Canadian Tire, Tow Truck in a Box, Exide, Motomaster, Mobil Super, Erb, Marks Work Warehouse and Reefer Sales. I also want to thank the #22 crew for a solid job all year, and thanks to all our #22 Racing Canadian Tire fans, especially those who stuck it out for two days here in the rain.”

Steckly finished 4th in the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series points battle.

The 2009 NASCAR Canadian Tire Series final event from Kawartha Speedway can be seen on TSN on Saturday October 17th at 2PM

STECKLY EXPERIENCES PROBLEM AT RIVERSIDE

ANTIGONISH, NS, (Sunday Sept. 20,, 2009): Scott Steckly was looking for a good finish on the weekend at Riverside Speedway in Antigonish Nova Scotia but was denied by a rear end gear failure. The end result for the No. 22 Racing/Canadian Tire/Tow Truck in a Box Dodge was a seventeenth place finish.

Steckly qualified the No. 22 Avenger in third place for the Komatsu 300 on Sunday after rain on Saturday forced NASCAR to cancel the day’s events.

The Canadian Tire driver quickly fell into line at the drop of the green flag as 300 laps is a long race. The car was not completely to Steckly’s liking and when the opportunity arose at lap 87 to come to pit road, he had his team make adjustments. When racing resumed, Steckly went straight to the front and at the half way point was leading the field. He came down pit road on the next caution for tires and a pit road penalty meant they had to line up at the tail end of the field. A few laps later the 22 Dodge Avenger started showing smoke out the back of the car. A rear gear failure was the culprit. Not to be defeated, the team went to work to make repairs and while many laps down Steckly returned to the track to finish the event. “We had a good car again today,” Steckly said after the race. “I am really proud of my team for not giving up and getting the car fixed and back on the track. We had the car to contend for the win. We will try again next weekend at Kawartha.”

Finish 1. Andrew Ranger 2. Jeff Lapcevich 3. Mark Dilley 4. Ron Beauchamp Jr. 5. Donald Chisholm 17. Scott Steckly.

The Komatsu 300 from Riverside Speedway in Antigonish Nova Scotia will be broadcast on TSN on Saturday Sept. 26th at 2 p.m. EST.

The final event of the 2009 NASCAR Canadian Tire Series season takes place next Saturday Sept. 26th at Kawartha Speedway just outside of Peterborough, ON. For information on tickets, event schedule etc please visit www.kawarthaspeedway.com.

STECKLY QUALIFIES AND FINISHES THIRD IN TORBRAM 300

BARRIE, ON (Sunday Sept. 13, 2009): Scott Steckly driving the No. 22 Canadian Tire Dodge Avenger qualified third for Saturday’s Torbram 300 presented by The Source at Barrie Speedway and went on to finish third later that night.

Steckly who won both NASCAR Canadian Tire Series events on this tight .333 mile oval a year ago was set to make it three in a row when late in the race, two lapped cars got tangled up together in front of him. Steckly was unable to get around them and had to stop on the track until the traffic cleared. NASCAR deemed him to be an involved car so he was sent back to line up at the back of the lead lap cars. With only a handful of laps left in the 300 lap event, Steckly was unable to get back to the front spot but pulled off a third place podium finish. “I am a little disappointed tonight as we had the car to win here,” said Steckly after the race. “Twice we got sent to the back when we stopped because of a wreck in front of us so we had to battle traffic all night long. This Canadian Tire/Tow Truck in a Box Dodge Avenger was great again tonight we just came up a bit short.”

Dom Thomson Jr. was able to take advantage of NASCAR’s ruling and he held off a hard charging Mark Dilley who finished second. Brad Graham, Jason Hathaway and Kerry Micks all finished on the lead lap in 4th, 5th and 6th.

The Torbram 300 presented by The Source will be broadcast on Saturday Sept. 19th at 12 noon EST.

The next event for the No. 22 Canadian Tire Team is the Komatsu 300 at Riverside Speedway in Antigonish Nova Scotia.

STECKLY HAS EXCITING DAY AT MONTREAL’S CIRCUIT GILLES VILLENEUVE
Steckly finishes the day on his roof

MONTREAL, QUEBEC, Sunday August 30, 2009: Scott Steckly driving the No. 22 Canadian Tire Dodge Avenger had an exciting finish to his day , just not the one he wanted. With the front five cars battling hard for position on the final lap of the 100 km race, Steckly got tagged by another car and when the dust settled the No. 22 dodge Avenger was on its roof. Steckly was unhurt and would be officially credited with finishing 19th.

The Canadian Tire/Tow Truck in a Box Dodge Avenger driver practiced and qualified well with them posting the fourth quickest time during time trials. Thirty-four NASCAR Canadian Tire Series cars made the trip to race at the famous Circuit Gilles Villeneuve.

Steckly dropped back a few positions during the first half of the race but with the laps winding down he started to move closer to the front. The caution flag few with just a handful of laps to go and when the green again waved it was for a green, white, checkered finish. NASCAR rules that one attempt will be made to complete the race but should the caution come out during that attempt the race will be considered complete. On the final lap a car got spun around which had Steckly and others dodging the mess. Unfortunately Steckly got collected by another car. When asked after the race how he was he commented, “I am fine not hurt at all. The rules that NASCAR implement are for a reason and today I am thankful for that. I want to again thank my crew and all my sponsors. Canadian Tire had a large presence here today and I would have liked nothing better that to get on the podium for them.”

J. R. Fitzpatrick took the win with Andrew Ranger finishing second. Kerry Micks, D. J. Kennington and Mark Dilley made up the remainder of the top five

The Napa 100 will be aired on TSN on Saturday Sept. 12th at 11 a.m. EST.

Steckly still remains in fourth in the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series point standings heading to event eleven in the thirteen race schedule at Barrie Speedway on Saturday Sept. 12th. For more information on this event visit www.barriespeedway.com.

STECKLY PRACTICES AND QUALIFIES STRONG BUT RACE DAY ENDS EARLY IN TROIS RIVIERES

TROIS RIVIERES, QC, Sunday August 16, 2009: The No. 22 Racing/Canadian Tire/Tow Truck in a Box Dodge Avenger of Scott Steckly had a good weekend up until lap 12 of the of the 43 lap 100 km GP3R 100 on Sunday afternoon. A gear failure was the culprit and a 27th place finish was the result.

Steckly and his No. 22 Canadian Tire Avenger arrived in Trois Rivieres on Thursday and made appearances at two Canadian Tire stores prior to the weekend race events.

At the track on Friday, Steckly was scored second quickest following the early evening practice session. Alex Tagliani who was also sporting Canadian Tire colours for the weekend was the quickest. Things were looking good for the Canadian Tire entries. Qualifying took place on Saturday afternoon and Steckly was seventh quickest with Tagliani taking the pole position.

At the drop of the green Steckly fell into line and was pacing the car and saving the equipment. The Grand Prix circuit is known to be hard on brakes and equipment so Steckly was cruising in seventh when the car slowed on the track. He was able to coast his Canadian Tire Avenger off the racing surface, but a disappointing twenty-seventh place finish was the result. “I am really disappointed for Canadian Tire today,” said Steckly. “They had a lot of guests here today and we wanted to put on a good show for them and run up front. We had a great car all weekend but sometimes things like this happen and you just have to continue to work hard and move on to the next race.”

Finish 1. Andrew Ranger 2. Anthony Simone 3. D. J. Kennington 4. Jacques Villeneuve 5. Ron Beauchamp Jr. 27. Scott Steckly

The GP3R100 will be broadcast on TSN on Saturday August 29th at 12 noon EST.

Steckly and his team will now prepare for the final road course event of the season at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in two weeks.

STECKLY SECOND AT MOSPORT
Steckly unveils new race car for Mosport event

BOWMANVILLE, ON, Saturday August 8, 2009: Scott Steckly driver of the No. 22 Canadian Tire/Tow Truck in a Box Dodge Avenger started sixth on Saturday night at Mosport Speedway in the Vortex Brake Pads 200 and finished 2nd. Event eight of the thirteen race NASCAR Canadian Tire Series tour saw Steckly and his team unveil their new race car.

The 22 Racing Team decided it was time to debut the new car that they have been working on since early in the 2009 race season. The late arrival of the car well into the first few races and the limited practice opportunities for it are the reason they haven’t had it out sooner. “We lost our last motor for our old oval car last week in Vernon,” said Steckly. “We have had very limited practice with this new car and it is quite different but we hope it will be okay,” he added during practice.

Steckly lined up sixth for the start of the Vortex Brake Pads 200 after time trials were completed. By lap 50 he was solidly in third place and setting his sights on the front runners Kennington & Thomson. After Kennington took over the lead Steckly quickly moved past Thomson as well for second. After a long green flag run the caution finally flew and then leader Ranger and Steckly ducked to the pits for tires and fuel.

While battling rain showers in their area, the skies finally cleared and with fifty laps remaining the drivers were ready for the run to the checkered flag. The Dodge driver did everything he could to catch Ranger but it was not to be and the No. 22 Canadian Tire Avenger crossed the finish line in second.

“Not a bad run for us with a new car,” said Steckly after the race. “We just need to test it a bit more and make some adjustments and I think we will be even better. It was another great run for us and our sponsors Canadian Tire, Tow Truck in a Box, Motomaster, Exide, Mobil Super, Erb, AW Millwrights, Marks Work Warehouse and Reefer Sales.”

D. J. Kennington finished third with Ron Beauchamp Jr. and Don Thomson Jr. rounding out the top five. Steckly now unofficially is 46 points behind leader Andrew Ranger with five races remaining.

The Vortex Brake Pads 200 from Mosport will be broadcast on TSN on Saturday August 23rd at 12 p.m. EST.

STECKLY BATTLES ADVERSITY AND WINS THE VELOCITY PRAIRIE THUNDER 250
Blows Motor in Practice Comes from Back to Win

Saskatoon, Saskatchewan (Wednesday July 29, 2009): Scott Steckly and his No. 22 Racing Team experienced the highs and the lows in Saskatoon at the Velocity Prairie Thunder presented by Bayer Crop Science 250. He started off by putting his Canadian Tire/Tow Truck in a Box Dodge Avenger up near the top of the practice charts only to blow the motor at the end of the session. His Canadian Tire team quickly went to work and by the time driver introductions started the Steckly crew had the car ready to race.

Due to missing the qualifying and autograph session, Steckly was immediately sent to the back of the field to start the race. This resulted in the 18th starting position out of 19 in attendance. When the green flag flew Steckly immediately started his march to the front of the pack. By lap 50 he was up to seventh and by lap 100 he was on the back bumper of leader Don Thomson Jr. Slightly after the half way flag, he would make a great move to get by Thomson only to have him return the favour a few laps later. The two would battle for several laps and eventually Steckly would drop back to fifth when he pitted for tires and fuel. But they were not to be denied and on lap 213 of the 250 lap race he passed Thomson for the final time. “I have to thank everyone for their hard work today, my crew did a great job of getting the motor changed and D.J. Kennington for helping us out with the motor,” said a smiling Steckly after the race. “I also want to thank Canadian Tire and Tow Truck in a Box who were in attendance tonight as well as all of our other sponsors.”

When asked how he did it he was quick to reply, “great teamwork, great racetrack, great sponsors and a terrific handling car.” Don Thomson Jr. finished second after leading the most laps with D. J. Kennington, Jason Hathaway and Anthony Simone rounding out the top five. The Velocity Prairie Thunder 250 will be broadcast on TSN on Saturday August 22 at midnight E.S.T. Steckly and his team now head home to Milverton, Ontario after the three race Western swing in the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series, where they will prepare for Mosport Speedway on Saturday August 8th. STECKLY POSTS FOURTH PODIUM IN SIX RACES
THIRD IN CANADIAN TIRE 100 IN EDMONTON

Edmonton, AB (Saturday July 25, 2009): Scott Steckly driver of the No. 22 Racing/Canadian Tire/Tow Truck in a Box Dodge Avenger finished third in Edmonton on Saturday. This is Steckly’s fourth podium finish in six events in the 2009 NASCAR Canadian Tire Series.

Steckly’s Dodge Avenger qualified second quickest on Friday giving him the outside front row starting position. Andrew Ranger won the pole and would go on to win the Canadian Tire 100.
At the drop of the green J. R. Fitzpatrick who started third, had the inside line following Ranger into turn one and he was able to get by Steckly who was on the outside. The strategy for Steckly then was to sit back in third and watch Ranger and Fitzpatrick battle it out and try to be in a position to capitalize should something happen. These two frontrunners, Ranger and Fitzpatrick have had many battles on the track over the last two years, so it was a good strategy for Steckly. While Fitzpatrick made several runs on Ranger during the final two laps they finished the way they ran for the major part of the 100 km race and Steckly would be a close third.

“My Canadian Tire/Tow Truck in a Box Dodge was really strong today,” said Steckly after the race. “We had a couple of chances to make a run on J.R. but thought better of it. I hoped they might tangle in front of me and I would get a chance to get by the for the win but it didn’t happen. We’re happy with the third place finish.”

With the third place finish, Steckly moves his No. 22 Racing/Canadian Tire Dodge Avenger into second in the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series point standings heading into the seventh event of the year at Auto Clearing Speedway in Saskatoon on Wednesday.

Behind Steckly, Trevor Siebert made a strong run from the back of the pack to finish fourth with Don Thomson Jr. finishing fifth. The Canadian Tire 100 from Edmonton will be broadcast on TSN Sunday August 9 at Noon E.S.T.

Next up for the 22 Racing Team is a visit to Auto Clearing Motor Speedway in Saskatoon for NASCAR’s inaugural visit to this race track on Wednesday July 29th as the teams wind up the three race Western road trip.

STECKLY EARNS THIRD PODIUM OF YOUNG SEASON

Vernon British Columbia (Sunday July 19, 2009): The 22 Racing/Canadian Tire/Tow Truck in a Box team finished second at Sun Valley tonight for the third time in three attempts. Steckly was one of only two cars to finish on the lead lap, the other being winner Andrew Ranger.

Steckly’s No. 22 Dodge Avenger was scored in the top ten during practice but a late arrival to technical inspection prior to qualifying had them penalized and only allowed one time trial lap. “We decided to make some changes to the car after practice as we weren’t quite where we wanted to be. We arrived at tech about two minutes late along with four other cars and we were all given only one lap of qualifying.”

The A & W 300 started with Ron Beauchamp Jr. on the pole and he would hold the top spot until the first third of the race was in the books. Steckly continued to edge his Canadian Tire entry closer to the front and with only a few caution flags the lead lap cars dwindled in numbers. With less that 20 laps to go Dilley who was following the two leaders in third ran out of fuel and a spin with less than four to go would give the fans the excitement of a green, white, checkered finish. Steckly lined up on the outside of Ranger for the restart but just couldn’t made the pass and the No. 22 team crossed the line in second giving them their third podium finish in five events.

“The car was really loose all night long,” said Steckly after the race. “We made adjustments but just couldn’t get it to where I could get on the gas coming off the corner. I want to thank Canadian Tire, Tow Truck in a Box as well as A & W tonights sponsor and all the fans for coming out tonight. We always like coming to Sun Valley Speedway and racing in front of these great Western fans.”

Andrew Ranger would win his first oval track NASCAR Canadian Tire Series race tonight and Ron Beauchamp Jr. finished third. D. J. Kennington & Kerry Micks rounded out the top five.

The A & W 300 from Sun Valley Speedway will be broadcast on TSN Sunday August 2 at Noon E.S.T.
The 22 Racing Team now load up and head to Edmonton Alberta for the Edmonton Rexall Indy next weekend.

STECKLY EARNS FIRST 2009 SEASON WIN

First Win for Steckly with his new sponsor Canadian Tire

St. Eustache, QC, Sunday July 12, 2009: Scott Steckly was not to be denied the win on Sunday in the Tide 250 at Autodrome St. Eustache. After overcoming a couple of obstacles, Steckly driving the No. 22 Racing/Canadian Tire/Tow Truck in a Box Dodge Avenger earned his first checkered flag of the season and first win for his new sponsor Canadian Tire.

Steckly, who sat on the pole at the first race of the season here in May, started the 250 lap event in fifth. By lap 25 Steckly had moved up to second and was challenging leader Andrew Ranger. A caution would see the two line up side by side for the restart. According to NASCAR Steckly jumped the start and was awarded a drive though penalty. This would have the Canadian Tire driver deep in the pack but persistence and good pit strategy had the team fighting their way back to the front.

With just over 50 laps to go a spinning car would come down the track and clip Steckly on the right front wheel. There was concern in the No. 22 pits as the front steering seemed to be off centre. Steckly would take the green flag on the restart cautiously waiting to see how the car was going to react. Within a lap he was moving up the inside of Ranger and a few laps later he took over the lead. Steckly kept his Canadian Tire/Tow Truck in a Box entry up front for the remainder of the race holding off a late race challenge from eventual second place finisher D. J. Kennington.

“We are very happy to get this first win for Canadian Tire,” stated a smiling Steckly after the race. “I wish we could have done it sooner but it’s good to finally get it done. I want to thank all of our sponsors including Canadian Tire, Tow Truck in a Box, Exide, Motomaster, Mobil Super, Erb, AW Millwrights, Marks Work Wearhouse and Reefer Sales.”

Finish 2. D.J. Kennington 3. John Gaunt 4. Andrew Ranger 5. Dave Whitlock.

Steckly moves up to fourth in the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series Standings heading to event #5 next weekend at Sun Valley Speedway in Vernon British Columbia. The three race Western Swing then continues to Edmonton for the Rexall Edmonton Indy on Saturday July 25th before wrapping up with NASCAR’s first appearance at Auto Clearing Speedway in Saskatoon on Wednesday July 29th.
The Tide 250 will be broadcast on TSN on Sunday July 19th at 2 p.m. EST.STECKLY SUCCUMBS TO ENGINE FAILURE AT MOSPORT

22 Racing/Canadian Tire Entry Starts from Row One Again

Bowmanville ON, Sunday June 14, 2009: Scott Steckly for the second race in a row qualified second quickest to start on the front row but this time disappointment followed as the 22 Racing/Canadian Tire/Tow Truck in a Box Dodge Avenger succumbed to engine failure on lap 21 of the 51 lap race.

Steckly as usual was right up top of the practice charts in the first practice early on Saturday morning. A broken wheel part would keep them from participating in the second practice session but it didn’t turn out to have any ill effects on the team as they qualified just 2/10ths of a second slower than pole sitter Andrew Ranger.

The start of the Dickies 200 on Sunday would have Steckly put his Canadian Tire Avenger on the back bumper of Ranger’s car for the early laps. Steckly attempted a pass on Ranger on the long Andretti straightway on lap four but Ranger was able to wrestle the lead back a short time later. No to be deterred Steckly stayed with the lead cars until pit stops on lap 18. With four fresh tires and fuel the No. 22 Canadian Tire/Tow Truck in a Box Dodge Avenger driver was ready to charge to the front when a short three laps later they experienced engine failure. A twentieth place finish was recorded. “The car was really good all day,” stated Steckly. “All weekend really. After pitting for tires and fuel we ran our best lap of the weekend, so we were confident about getting back to the front once all the pit stops cycled through. I am really disappointed for all of our sponsors.”

Andrew Ranger won from the pole with No. 95 Anthony Simone finishing a career best second and J. R. Fitzpatrick rounding out the top three.

The driver of the No.40 car, Joey Hanssen from the Netherlands experienced a very hard hit in turn eight which resulted in an extended red flag period while they extricated him from the car on lap ten.

Steckly and his No. 22 Racing team now get three weeks off before returning to Autodrome St. Eustache for event number four of the thirteen race NASCAR Canadian Tire Series schedule on Saturday July 11th.

The No. 22 Racing/Canadian Tire/Tow Truck in a Box team are also sponsored by the following associate and product sponsors: Motomaster, Exide, Mobil Super, Erb Transport, AW Millwrights, Marks Work Warehouse and Reefer Sales.

The Dickies 200 from Mosport International Raceway will be televised on TSN on Sunday June 28th at 11:30 a.m. EST. Check local listings for more details.

STECKLY EARNS FIRST PODIUM FOR CANADIAN TIRE IN 2009

London, Ontario, Monday June 8, 2009: Scott Steckly driving the No. 22 Canadian Tire/Tow Truck in a Box Dodge Avenger finished the Saturday night event in third place after several green, white checkered attempts to finish the race. The Delaware 200 presented by Belfor Restoration Services was held at Delaware Speedway just outside of London, On on Saturday night as the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series made its inaugural visit to the popular Southern Ontario half mile speedway.

Steckly posted his time trial early in the qualifying session and was first on the charts until a late qualifying Mark Dilley bumped him off the top spot. Dilley and Steckly would form the front row for the start of the 200 lap race.

At the drop of the green flag Dilley quickly moved to the front and Steckly was in the high groove for a few laps until he was finally able to get down to the preferred racing groove and into third place. By the first round of pit stops at lap 62, the No. 22 Canadian Tire driver found himself back in fifth. His crew quickly serviced the car with racing fuel, made some chassis adjustments and sent him back out. On lap 88 Steckly again came to the attention of his crew for right side tires. The car was extremely loose all night and the adjustments were making it better but still not quite what the driver wanted. When the dust settled after three attempts at a green, white checkered finish Steckly brought the Canadian Tire/Tow Truck in a Box Dodge Avenger across the line in third posting his first podium finish in the early stages of the 2009 NASCAR Canadian Tire Series season.

“The car was extremely loose all night,” stated Steckly after the race. “The team made some adjustments during our pit stops and while it was better it still wasn’t perfect but a third is a good finish. I want to thank Canadian Tire, Tow Truck in a Box and all of our great sponsors for making this possible.”

D. J. Kennington won the Delaware 200 on his home track with Ron Beauchamp Jr. posting his second straight second place finish, Kerry Micks and Anthony Simone rounded out the top five.

The Delaware 200 presented by Belfor Restoration Services will be aired on TSN on Sunday June 14th at 11:30 a.m. EST.

Steckly and his Canadian Tire team now head to Mosport International Raceway for the Dickies 200 next weekend, June 13/14th. Steckly finished fourth at this Internationally renowned road course venue in 2008. If not for a rain shower late in the event, Steckly may have had a chance at the win. STECKLY TAKES POLE AND COMES BACK TO FINISH FOURTH

St. Eustache, Quebec, Sunday May 24, 2009: Reigning NASCAR Canadian Tire Series Champion Scott Steckly started off the new season as planned by sitting on the pole for the Tufoil 250 at Autodrome St. Eustache. After leading the 250 lap event early, then battling adversity midway through the race the team bounced back to bring the No. 22 Canadian Tire Dodge Avenger across the finish line in fourth.

Steckly, sporting new sponsor Canadian Tire colours in 2009 set quick time during the mid day qualifying session and he would go on to lead the first 44 laps of the 250 lap event. Difficulty started for the Steckly team when attempting to pit early for fuel and tires, they were partially blocked from entering their pit stall by another competitor. A one lap penalty ensued for pitting out of their pit box. The Canadian Tire/Tow Truck in a Box team knew there would be more cautions and a “lucky dog” opportunity could result in getting them back on the lead lap. On lap 233, Steckly was indeed the beneficiary of the lucky dog rule and was awarded his lap back. After pitting for tires, Steckly would then attempt to get back to the front. With less than 15 laps to go a valiant effort was made and the No. 22 Canadian Tire/Tow Truck in a Box Dodge Avenger crossed the finish line in fourth. “If we had of had a few more laps we would have been on the podium for sure,” said Steckly after the race. “It was a bit frustrating for us early in the night but my guys stayed on track and we just worked hard to get back on the lead lap. I want to thank Canadian Tire, Tow Truck in a Box and all of our other sponsors; we hope to keep them up front all year long.”

The 22 Racing Team compete in the 13 race NASCAR Canadian Tire Series from coast to coast in Canada using 350 parts from Canadian Tire.

Finish: 1. No. 39 Dave Whitlock 2. No. 02 Kerry Micks 3. No. 60 Ron Beauchamp Jr. 5. No. 9 Mark Dilley.

The Tufoil 250 from Autodrome St. Eustache will air on TSN on Saturday May 30 at 5 p.m. EST.

Event number two will be held on Saturday June 6th at London’s Delaware Speedway.
